Ráday Pál (1677-1733), II. Rákóczi Ferenc diplomatája 1722-1730 között építette első, a mai kastély részét képező péceli kúriáját. Fia, Ráday Gedeon (1713 - 1792), 1755-1766 között ezt barokk stílusú kastéllyá bővítette. A teljes kastély melléképületekkel, 1770-re készült el. Az átalakítást a gödöllői Grassalkovich-kastély építője, Mayerhoffer András, valamint fia, János végezték. 1825. március 30-án leégett. A család anyagi gondjai miatt 1872. december 30-án nyilvánosan elárverezték. Ekkor került a Kelecsényi család birtokába, ahol állapota folyamatosan romlott. A 2. világháború után a MÁV helyreállítatta, és kórháznak használta az épületet. 1998-ban a MÁV átadta a Műemlékek Nemzeti Gondnokságának. |
